Facades Of Reality by ~IntoDeep:iconIntoDeep:

All these people talking about how they got the tough life,
About how their life isn't fair,
About how they don't want to do this or that,
About how they want the things others cant earn to afford,
About how people don't have any respect for them.

But they have no idea what's it like
To live in a broken down home,
Ceilings leaking the tears of the young generations,
Walls marked up with past residents destructions,
Floorboards rotting away like child defections.

And across the street where the children used to go and play,
Having fun on the slides and swings
Accompanied with chatter and laughter starting to fade to silence.
Until a gun shot is fired and the sirens saying that they don't want to deal with this bullshit everyday

These people have no idea because from where I come from,
No one is truly happy inside – their hearts are bleeding black and broken into pieces
Drowning in their own tears when all they want to do is scream out and cry,
"I don't want to live this kind of life."
Always struggling and working hard day after day,
Coming home at 11 PM in the night and going back to work in 6 more hours
Wanting a little money in their pocket,
Trying to bring food on the table,
Clothes on their children backs,
And a shelter upon their heads

These people,
All they think is themselves and no one else
Like the starving boy on the street with no guidance who needs the wasted food more
Like the homeless sleeping on the sidewalks and begging for money just to get by living
In this, oh so god forsaken land of the free
Like the drunk husband beating their wives for just the pleasure
These people may live in riches beyond wonder
But they will never know the truth of reality
Until the reality smacks them right in the face
When they have that starving boy's stomach
Or the homeless' clothes
Or the beaten wives bruises

From where I come from,
No one succeeded their dreams and aspirations,
Wanting to strive for the better
And getting the hell out of here before selling their soul to the devil

But I...
I want to
Make my reality better than my dreams

Very well written. I like the end line, you definantly closed the poem well. This reminds me of a few of my friends, but they choose to make their lives that way. It's worse for the people who don't want this kind of life, but get stuck in it anyways. Anyways, good poem.

In fact, it's up in flames.

Yep. I feel bad for the people just trying to make a living to go by each day. While there's other people in the world, littering our world and wasting food and money on unneccessary things. Thanks for the comment. :)

Let's jump upon the sharp swords
And cut away our smiles
Without the threat of Death
There's no reason to live at all
